2-Dimensional Design
Assignment 1; Unconventional Self Portrait
Assignment;
For our first assignment, we had to created an 'unconventional' self-portrait. Mr Choy instructed us to use different styles and techniques to create something out of the ordinary.
When he first gave us the instructions I already knew I wanted to do something with an unconventional material.
I had three initial ideas, the first being a geometric drawing themed portrait, a 3D model created with wire and then taken photos of so it can be presented as a 2D outcome as well as my final outcome's design, a portrait created with lipstick stains.
Mr. Choy agreed with my proposal for the final designs being a 'lipstick' portrait but gave me a challenge to distress the drawing with a bad element of makeup. At first I was confused and had no idea how to execute such a thing.
Process;
After thinking about it, I decided to simply distress my make up portrait, with more make up. This is to signify that too much of something that was suppose to enhance your inner beauty and boost your confidence, can also wreck you.
Before I started my portrait I took pictures and sketched my face out in different angles to decide which angle and composition would suit the final design best.
